Passive Liveness Check Strengthens Innovatrics Digital Onboarding


Innovatrics’ Passive Liveness Check only needs one selfie to reduce enrollment time and decrease abandonment rate during digital onboarding. It is among a handful of solutions in the world that can work on a standard smartphone without requiring user interaction.

“Our main aim was to improve the user experience of liveness checks, which require the user to follow instructions and can be cumbersome,” explains Daniel Ferak, Head of Product Management at Innovatrics.

Based on deep learning techniques and neural networks, Innovatrics Passive Liveness Check only needs a single photo to evaluate whether the user is alive without human supervision. It is able to detect all the common presentation attack techniques that can deceive the system in the form of a high-resolution picture, cut-out photo, or video. Together with the existing Active Liveness Check, clients can implement either both or one at a time depending on their requirements. Having both features from the same provider ensures our clients enjoy a truly frictionless customer experience.

With its ease of use, Passive Liveness Check can easily be applied in banking applications especially when assessing the security of a large financial transfer. The client receives a score which assesses the quality of liveness detection, not just a simple Yes/No response. Clients can therefore customize score thresholds according to their own security and user experience needs.
