Data Format for the Interchange of Fingerprint, Facial & Other Biometric Information

ANSI/NIST-ITL is a US-originated but internationally used exchange format for fingerprint, face, iris, palmprint, and other biometric or forensic information, maintained by NIST. It defines a common transaction structure (numbered record types) that underpins most law-enforcement and border-management biometric exchanges, and is the base that national and organizational profiles — such as the FBI’s EBTS, DoD EBTS and Interpol’s format — build on.
