Biometric sample quality

ISO/IEC 29794 defines how to measure and express the quality of a biometric sample — the score that decides whether a captured face, finger or iris image is good enough to use. A 29794 quality score travels alongside a 19794 or 39794 data record rather than replacing it. Several parts began as 2010 Technical Reports before being reworked into full International Standards; the finger-image part is the standard behind NFIQ 2, the widely-used open fingerprint quality algorithm.
