Innovatrics is introducing Video Investigation, a new feature in Innovatrics ABIS for Criminal Investigation. It accelerates investigations that depend on video footage by processing recordings faster than real time and reducing manual review.
Video evidence often sits outside core workflows, with forensic experts processing footage in one place, running searches in another, and documenting conclusions elsewhere. By bringing video processing into the same workflow, Video Investigation makes Innovatrics ABIS an even more capable investigative system, letting experts build cases in one environment and produce court-admissible evidence supported by a complete record of evidence handling.
Investigators can add unprocessed footage to the case file and run face detection automatically. Detections are grouped into tracklets, one occurrence of one person over time. Identification can run against selected galleries of enrollees and against facial evidence from cases.
Investigators can rerun processing with different parameters, including the facial score threshold and the maximum number of candidates shown. Candidates are reviewed per tracklet so investigators can focus on relevant segments. From there, investigators confirm findings before recording outcomes in the case report. They can create facial evidence directly from the video by selecting and cropping the best face or tracklet, then saving it to the case. They can also add manual annotations for objects or events and create SMT evidence from video.
In criminal casework, algorithm output is not treated as a final identification. Investigators need to manually review and analyze the face, follow investigative workflows such as comparison against other faces, and only then confirm the result. The entire path stays in one system and the verified outcome is recorded to the case file.
Innovatrics ABIS for Criminal Investigation brings SMT, face, fingerprint, iris, palm, and DNA identification together with case management and criminal investigation workflows in one system.
