Innovatrics’ Biometric Ventures Invests in Mettis AI to Advance Road Safety

Innovatrics’ venture initiative, Biometric Ventures, has invested in Mettis AI, a Spanish startup specializing in artificial intelligence designed to analyze driver behavior and enhance road safety.

The investment reflects a shared focus on technologies that improve safety, strengthen trust, and bring more reliable data into transport and mobility. Mettis AI’s driver behavior insights and Innovatrics’ biometric identity verification technology work together. This partnership delivers objective insights and transforms them into new opportunities for driving schools, fleet operators, mobility and carpooling platforms, and other services that need to know both who is driving and how they are driving.

Strengthening Trust through Identity Verification

One of the key differentiators in Mettis AI’s approach is the integration of behavioral analytics with biometric identity verification. By incorporating face recognition technology, the platform ensures that driver behavior data is accurately attributed to the correct individual, a critical capability in environments where multiple drivers may operate the same vehicle.

“In logistics, where drivers rotate across a single fleet vehicle, it is essential to track performance at the individual level rather than per vehicle,” Vojta Diatka, the CEO of Biometric Ventures, noted. Similarly, in ride-hailing scenarios, the combination of behavioral monitoring and identity verification helps platforms confirm that the registered driver is the one behind the wheel, reducing risks associated with account sharing or unauthorized subletting.

A First for Biometric Ventures

In a departure from traditional venture capital practices, this deal represents the first time Innovatrics’ Biometric Ventures has closed an investment without a prior in-person meeting with the founding team.

While the firm typically prioritizes face-to-face rapport, leadership noted that the clarity of vision and technical caliber of the Mettis AI team made the decision seamless. This deal underscores the flexibility and global nature of the current AI boom, and the strength of the Madrid startup ecosystem.
