Innovatrics’ latest submission to the NIST Face Analysis Technology Evaluation Age Estimation and Verification (FATE AEV) benchmark ranks first in a combined view of the Demographics aggregate and Challenge 25 results.
The comparison uses the average position of each system across the two benchmarks completed by the full evaluated field. Innovatrics ranks second in both categories, giving it the leading combined position across 23 vendors and 42 submissions.
NIST’s FATE AEV evaluates algorithms that analyze face photos and estimate age. The results are used by organizations assessing age estimation technology for online services, onboarding flows, kiosks, border environments, and other identity verification use cases.

In the Demographics aggregate, Innovatrics ranks second with a Figure of Merit of 3.92. The metric is based on performance across 12 demographic cells, covering six regions of birth and two sexes.
In the supplied comparison, Innovatrics is the only top five vendor where every region and sex cell ranks between second and seventh out of 42 submissions. This shows consistent performance across the evaluated demographic groups, without a clear weak spot in the reported data.
“For age estimation to work in real deployments, accuracy has to be consistent across different users and capture conditions. This result is important because it shows progress not only in ranking, but in balance, which is what our customers need when they deploy at scale,” said Jakub Sochor, CTO at Innovatrics.
Challenge 25 is one of the key practical benchmarks in FATE AEV. It reflects age-restriction settings in which a system needs to decide whether a person can continue without additional checks or should be routed to another verification step.
Innovatrics ranks second in Challenge 25. Other leading systems place first in one benchmark but lose ground in the other. This makes Innovatrics the strongest combined performer in the two full-field benchmarks used in the comparison.
This is Innovatrics’ best result in FATE AEV to date, led by improved demographic balance and consistent Challenge 25 performance across both application and border photo conditions.
