Patients Automatic Identification System, Saudi Arabia

(2011)

Al-Khafji Joint Operation (KJO), a joint venture between Aramco Gulf Operation Company (AGOC) & Kuwait Gulf Oil Company (KGOC) in the Oil & Gas industry, needed a better way to manage patient registrations. With a hospital facility serving over 25,000 employees and families, manual registration was becoming impossible and tracking/identifying patients, especially those that were unconscious, was problematic. To combat this growing situation, KJO and its partner Lantern Software and Systems implemented a biometrics identification system across its entire patient population thereby ensuring proper registration, tracking, and identification.

Blood Transfusion Traceability, France

(2005)

The software application, running on a HP iPAQ hx2750 PocketPC, identifies patients by fingerprints and assigns them the appropriate blood bag. This application signals the expanding acceptance and recognizable value of using a reliable method to access patient data on a mobile device, that is more convenient than code-bars printed on wrist-bands.
