Biometric Passport System Secures National Borders

Republic of Ghana | Government

Situation

The Republic of Ghana, boasting a population of more than 31 million people, is located along the Gulf of Guinea and the Atlantic Ocean in West Africa. Tracking the movement of people in and out of a country can be a daunting task, especially when relying upon old systems and manual inspection of identification materials.

Challenge

To provide a much more efficient and effective method to monitor the movement of people while they travel, a system utilizing biometric documents is necessary to address the issue. It has to be connected to the database of the government and other institutions.

Our Solution

To comply with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and remain as a member country in the aforementioned group, the government of Ghana worked with Innovatrics to design, build and implement a biometric identity document system to control immigration and emigration across Ghana’s borders.
